Ain’t No Zipline

This guided kayak/rappel tour, departing from Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor starts with an easy downwind paddle that heads upstream into the heart of the Hulei’a National Wildlife Refuge. Paddle (70 to 90 minutes) to the beginning of a jungle trail and then start the first hike (about 10 to 15 minutes). This is a short walk, with a very easy slope, mostly flat along the stream and forest trail, leading to an awaiting Island Adventures 14 passenger van. A short van ride takes us to the Hawaiian Dundee Training Camp. Upon arrival we fit you with all necessary gear and we then brief you with a rappelling lesson on a 3-tiered 25 ft dry wall. (Rappelling is optional, but highly recommended). A second hike (about 15-minutes) takes us down our private trail to the waterfalls (this hike resembles walking down eight flights of stairs and back up). First, “Bamboo Falls” is the site of our 30’ waterfall and the rappel experience on This Ain’t No Zipline. After rappeling, we take guests to our 60’ waterfall, “Papakolea”. Participants can swim at both waterfalls (and climb behind the 60’ waterfall, conditions permitting). The third hike then brings us back up to the training camp and a shaded scenic picnic area for a gourmet picnic lunch. And the tour ends with guests being driven back to DA LIFE.
